How does the Creative Studio help bring research stories to life through design?
We see our role as turning data into something people can actually feel something about. Research contains rich insights, but without the right design, people easily overlook them.
We work closely with researchers to understand the story behind the numbers. Then we use visuals such as bold infographics, clear layouts or engaging animations to bring stories to life.
It is all about helping our clients’ audience connect with the findings quickly and clearly.
Are there specific design formats that work well for different types of research?
Yes, different formats work best depending on the story and audience. Infographics are great for summarising key data points clearly and attractively.
Motion graphics or animations work especially well for LinkedIn, where studies show they drive the highest engagement in the B2B sector. Interactive formats help grab attention and communicate insights clearly, which increases the impact of the research.
The key is choosing the right format to fit the research and how people will use it.
What’s one of the team’s favourite projects where design really made the insights stand out?
One of the team’s favourite projects was working with a US-based company specialising in hybrid cloud storage solutions for the second year in a row. This time, we had the opportunity to put their new brand into work for the first time.
Strong collaboration between design and research teams delivered the project smoothly and ahead of schedule. We created a polished, visually striking asset that the client could use long term. It was rewarding to see how the design helped make the insights clear and engaging, while also supporting the client’s early success in promoting their report.

Can you walk me through a typical day for a designer at Sapio Research?
There is no typical day for a designer at Sapio Research because every project is different. Some days we create layouts and infographics, while others involve storyboarding and animation.
We also work on internal marketing materials and collaborate closely with researchers to keep everything clear and accurate.
Plus, we stay up to date with design trends to keep our work fresh.

And lastly, what sets you apart from a typical graphic designer?
For us, it is all about starting with insight. We specialise in digging into market research data to find key takeaways for audiences. That naturally shapes how we approach design.
We are not just thinking about what looks good visually, we are also thinking about what needs to be communicated, who it is for, and how to get that across clearly and effectively.
Compared to a more general graphic designer, we focus on the story and the strategy behind a research project. Being a data design expert is all about translating complex data into appealing visual assets that provide direction and inspire action.
Whether it’s a report, infographic or something for social media, we make sure our designs support our client’s message and bring their insights to life.
